Stanley Whitt from Arkansas killed what may be the heaviest weight deer ever recorded. He killed it in Ogalla, Nebraska (Western Nebraska) It weighed 412 lbs with a 148 inch set of antlers.

Notice how the deer makes the 20" spread look 15". Stan's arrow hit high and took out one lung and the buck went nearly 800 yd. (est.) without stopping or being pushed before going down. Up north they are accustomed to seeing big deer, but this one dropped even the conservation officers jaws!

The buck was found after 12 hours of looking. You would think it would not be that hard to find, but 2 guys actually walked within 25 yards of it and never saw it!  He went about 7-800 yards without bedding. Shot too high at 5 yards and only got 1 lung. Stan on that trip had hunted as hard as he could for 10 days and finally got a shot on a good one and thought he blew it. It bled good for 300 yards and quit. That night he was as low as a hunter can get after a week of hard cold hunting and on one of the last days getting your chance and blowing it. He kept saying that something wasn't right about this deer, he was like an obese person trying to move through the woods. He was right. The next morning he and his hunting partners were loaded up and headed out. They had one stand left to pull when they decided to go take one last look for the deer. 4 hours later they were standing over it in amazement.  Talk about hitting a HIGH.  All 4 hunters including the game warden did all they could to load it in the truck. They do grow bigger deer up north, but this is still an anomaly.  His chin neck measurement for taxidermy was 30 inches. I think forms top out at 29".
